If your having a fairy themed birthday party these glittery felt wands would be a perfect party favour or to hand out to each little fairy as she passes through your door into Enchanted Fairyland.

With just a little felt, a twig from your garden, ribbon and stuffing, these felt wands are really easy to make. They only take about 5 minutes per wand, so if your having a party for 12, schedule in an hour for making these prior to your party.

You will need:

Felt with glittery print or plain in pastel colours.

20cm twigs from your garden

5mm wide gold and satin ribbon

 stuffing

fabric/wood glue

white or natural thread & needle

How to make felt fairy wands:

Take the star template and cut 2 per wand out of felt.

With the right sides facing outwards, sew the two stars together leaving the bottom open between two of the points. The seam allowance should be about 3mm. Sew using back stitch, if you are not using a sewing machine.

Stuff each point of the star, then add glue to the end of the twig and bundle a little stuffing around it, then leave to dry.

Place three 15cm strips of ribbon to the inside centre of the base and sew in place. They need to be placed about 1cm inside the star with the longer length hanging out of the base.

Push the twig into the centre of the felt star and add any further stuffing you feel is required. The reason for sticking stuffing to the twig is that it should wedge it in place securely when completed.

Sew up the base with blanket stitch making sure the twig is sticking out at the centre of the base.

Take a 20cm length of ribbon and tie it in a neat bow around the top of the twig where it meets the star.
